I have the had the pleasure of being on the forefront of technology in schools. I did several posts early about the technology I was using in elementary school. In high school we had the chance to explore and create. I started when the multimedia class was PowerPoint and all of the things you could do with it. We did video, sound, and animation. It was reminiscent of the old HyperCard and HyperStack projects we did with the younger students years before. Students would then branch out to more complicated projects. One of my favorites was the PowerPoint slideshow of trivia questions and answers and the links would take you to a card saying you got it correctly or you got it wrong. I was lucky enough to have some freedom and really expanded. The kids learned making movies and sound. We also had the chance to get the Flash software and build projects in Flash We eventually expanded to a Multimedia 2. It was the first time we tried animation and 3D work. We used a software called BRYCE for the 3D environments. Now we have software like Maya and Blender. I like that we had the freedom to create and be ahead of the curve. I now look around and see these things in many schools but much of these innovations are now gone from our school and with very little to replace it. We have an exceptional teacher that is doing video production. We are now finding ourselves behind the curve with options for students.
